AVATAR-ific! A rare IMAX night

Yes, yes, we know we have not been hiking very much lately. No one is more sorry about that than us! But with the floors 99% done, we’re in full-on moving mode now. With luck, we’ll be able to get back out there within a couple weeks, or sooner if we can’t stand it. In the meantime, we FINALLY went to see Avatar yesterday in 3D at the IMAX.
Putting aside the fact that the movie is pretty much a shot by shot re-telling of Dances With Wolves, what a wonderful time! We both wondered if it would be as much a spectacle without the 3D, but still easily some of the finest special effects (if not the best) we’ve ever seen. Easy to see why conservatives would be all upset – but too bad for them.
It’ll be interesting to see if it takes all those Oscars.
Anyway, we have settled on a Half Marathon to try for, March 21 in New Bedford. It’s a big race, and we’ll need all of the next two months to train for it, but it’s on our list of training goals so why not shoot for it early in the season? We’ll have more on our training and preps for this race later. Till then, here’s the web site:
