Stunning shot of Kala Patthar

We found this photo of Kala Patthar on line and it is simply the best and most beautiful we’ve seen so far! The photographer’s name is Satish Kumar from India. He took his trek last year in October as well. This picture was taken in early October, I’m guessing about the same time we’ll be there this year.
The compound at the bottom is Gorak Shep, the final “town” before Everest Base Camp. Behind Kala Patthar is Pumori. Our goal will be to reach the top of Kala Patthar for the finest views of Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse and of course Everest.
Thank you so much Satish for giving us permission to use it!

  1. That looks absolutely incredible!

  2. Hey Dude, yup, and scary! Check out Satish's portfolio if you get a chance. Great stuff!

  3. WOW WOW WOW!!!! It's amazing how stunning those mountains really are – unbelievable. It's like it's not on this planet! I have to be honest I didn't fancy EBC before looking at those photos due to the amount of traffic and litter (of which I didn't see any on the pics at all) I've heard about. Consider that opinion rubbished and another trip added to my list! One more WOW for good measure!

  4. I know, it's great stuff! Actually, about the rubbish, in the past few years there have been several Trash Collection Expeditions whose goal was not to climb the mountain but bring back down garbage. If you Google “Garbage Collection Everest” you'll get all sorts of reports on teams doing this. Some of them call themselves Eco-Expeditions. We'll let you know! Here's a like to an Indian team that climb up, collected trash, and skiied down! Nuts!
