Date set for our summit attempt: Oct. 20

Well, after much time spent pouring over topo maps and struggling with airline schedules, we’ve settled on the morning of Wed. Oct. 20 as our summit attempt on Kala Patthar. That allows for an 11 day approach and a stay at Gorek Shep, the tiny hamlet at the foot of KP. This is all dependent on weather behaving and a hundred other factors we have not yet even thought of, but it’s nice to have a crisp, clear date in our heads.
We have not yet given too much thought to updating our progress on Facebook or this blog. We know there is some connectivity in a couple places along the way, Namche Bazaar and Tengboche, for example. And who knows, maybe Meenakshi can talk her way into using some Sherpa’s solar powered laptop at Base Camp. That is if we have an extra breath to use.
More on that later. Till then, enjoy the wonderful photography of our friend Satish Kumar of the Pumori Range on the way up Kala Patthar!

  3. Jim Marsh says:

We plan to go to Lukla on Oct 11 and do Kala Patthar on Oct 19, overnighting in Periche on the 19th. Closer to the date we'll have to compare notes to see where we can meet up.
This is a fantastic trip you're doing, good luck with all the preparations!

  4. Jim, that's great! The day before us, we will meet up someplace for sure! We've been watching your web site as well. It's a great cause – check it out here folks: http://www.jimmarsh.ca/
