Under 30:00 (finally) for Dan at a Timed 5k

It was a great day for a run at Sunday’s Day of Portugal 5k in New Bedford, Mass. Dan, Meena and their friend Jeff powered through the slightly soggy and overcast race. Dan set a personal best, finishing in 29:38, the first time he completed a registered 5k in under 30:00!
This a a wonderful local 5k, full of amazing Portuguese food and a final quarter mile sprint to the finish line straight down the heart of the festival, where tons of people are cheering and unbelievable smells from the cooking food make you want to finish faster to go eat!
We didn’t bring our camera to this one, but our friends did, so we’ll post some pics later.
This week, we prepare for a big climb on the 19th, then the daddy of all hikes, the Presidential Traverse on June 26. Cheers!

  1. Miriam says:

Congratulations! There are always time goals that seem so hard to break through mentally. When I was a rower it was a 7:20 indoor rowing machine time over a 2k race. I could never break through it. But once I did, I never looked back (at least in my time of rowing training, now I couldn't break it if I tried)

    Glad you enjoyed yourselves!

  2. Thanks Miriam, coming from a fellow runner who has her own lofty goals, that means a lot. It was just great to reach that goal. Now, onward and upward!
