This week, Bizarre Snacks will take a break as D and M prepare for this year’s Presidential Traverse attempt on Saturday. More on that in a sec.
We did want to thank Annie and Jill who sent us the two most interesting Bizarre Snack suggestions. Annie suggested a Korean snack called kim, a roasted seaweed paper like nori only lighter. Meanwhile, Jill suggested frozen pineapple lumps from New Zealand.
Yum to both. We will immediately begin looking for them and thanks for the suggestions!
Now, D and M are getting their heads ready for this year’s Presidential Traverse attempt. The fun will begin under the stars at 2 a.m. early Saturday morning. If those stars are aligned properly we’ll finish 21 miles later in Crawford Notch at around 7-8 p.m. Dan had to cut his solo attempt short last year due to thunderstorms, but weather this year is looking good so far.
Our rules for the attempt are simple. Tag the 4,000-footers that count, go around the ones that don’t. So, in order we hope to summit, Madison, Adams, Jefferson, Washington, Monroe, Eisenhower, Pierce and Jackson. We’ll take a pass on the other Adams’, Clay, Franklin and Webster. That’s about 8,000 feet of elevation gain right there.
This is the big one, the one we’ve been working toward for months and the one that will really give us an idea of how we’ll do in the Rockies next month. Wish us luck and stay tuned for a full report next week!
