Exactly one month from today, our campaign to summit all 48 high peaks in 30 days will kick off. Or should I say step off?
The first two weeks of our fundraising has gone very well. As it stands now, we’ll be hiking for more than $150 per peak! With one month to go, we’re confident that number will get much higher! Thank you to everyone who has already committed with a pledge. You can check out the list of supporters under our Pledge Roll tab.
The first long weekend in September will be crucial to attaining our goal. Dan will hike Sept. 1-5, everyday, in an attempt to tag 21 of the 48 in that first long weekend. Everything depends on the weather, of course, but the tentative plan is to knock off all 8 of the Presidentials and all 13 of the high peaks along the Pemi Loop (including North Twin and Zealand).
The idea will be to get all the above treeline peaks out of the way early in September when there’s less of a chance of snow or bad weather.
How reasonable is that? If weather is good and Dan’s knees behave, we think it’s doable. We’ll also have a bad weather Plan B and a REALLY bad weather Plan C. More on our exact schedule as we get closer.
By the way, Sept. 5 is also Dan and Meena’s 1st wedding anniversary! And Meena will certainly be up there climbing with Dan for some of that weekend. What better a way to celebrate then being back in the mountains where it all started?
